Nigel has stepped down

As above he has stepped down as a director of the club. Two of the 6 directors plus the secretary in the accounts filed in June 2019 have since resigned. No new appointments. Directors now Lucy Wray, D.Silvester, M.Velani &
F.Pienaar.

presumably now Nigel is no longer officially part of the club - any money he personally gives to a player will not be counted in the cap

Yes, Nigel Wray would have involvement through a family member. There is a good discussion of the rules on the Saints' Board.
