Yes was quite surprised that it had hit a level that would see him comment.
I know that overall the Robert Kubica fans that I have come across have been quite forceful in their views but apart from one person never got to a point where I felt that his fans were an issue.
Is it surprising to see that Russell would be the focus of their attention. If this is the case I hate to think what the Williams Team and in particular Claire Williams has to contend with. Explains why she doesn't have a presence on Social media.

I really think this is unfortunate. There is no justification to these stupid and aggressive comments on his social media. These morons are giving us Poles bad reputation. I don't know a single person who would have anything against George. He is doing a great job with what he got from the team. I often criticize the team but why would I criticize George? Robert gets a lot of hate too on his social media and Williams media but he is used to it. He was criticised all the time for the last few years, especially when he was in WRC.
I also think that Autosport is becoming a clickbait site like any other right now. We don't really know when this interview was done but it only emerges now in the silly season. In Hungary there were 20-30 thousand of Polish fans and I haven't heard a single story where George was treated with disrespect. He was greeted alongside Robert and all was fine and friendly. They should really think twice before posting this stupid@#$%&just a few days before Verva Street Racing event in Poland where George is invited.

Not trying to justify their trolling on social media, but it's the same for some other drivers too.Alot worse for Lewis for example. He needs to raise the bar for his tolerance.

Unfortunately as much as I would like that kind of stuff to end I'm sure it won't stop. So yeah, you are right, George needs to be above that stuff.

If you are among chosen 20 in a few billion, you got to learn to ignore. But he's young, so in time he will learn to ignore & not even bring it up anywhere (in public).

I don't remember a driver calling out his teammate's fans for posting bad comments. They are above that. Russell has to pick his battles. The comment war is not one of them.

Quote:Reading the comments under Stroll's instagram posts actually makes me sympathize for the guy. Also, the way Sirotkin was constantly mocked and insulted last year was really annoying. I don't see that level of abuse on Russell's social media, but I understand why it is bothering him and I don't think it is right to dismiss this just saying that he needs to "raise the bar for his tolerance". Of course in his position he has to accept some negative comments, but this kind of "group attack", especially without any provocation, is something else and I don't think it is wrong not to pass it under silence.Mehryar

Internet is full of idiots and trolls and Robert is getting far more hate from Polish ones than George would think, just look at Polish most popular portals to see many rude comments about his arm, his weakness, money lost by Orlen etc.

This has to rate right up there with those fans who p@ssed on Schumi, Alonso, Seb, Hamilton?
Russel grow some balls like Jackie Stewart or Nigel Mansell you are beginning sounding like a "Spice Girl" Song.

Remember Maldonado fans. They were just as aggressive and borderline deluded. Not all Kubica fans, just these likely select few who are just too much. I'm sure 95% of his fanbase are just normal, and there are the few as usual who ruin their reputation

Polish fans are no worse than any other... It's just that they have plenty of reasons to be unhappy, and the few outspoken diehards (the ones that will become vitriolic on social media) prove that it's easier to bash the teammate than accept reality. Finding excuses keeps their delusion intact.
Having said that, Russell's mere admission that he's aware and sensitive of the polish mouthbreathers is a bad move. He's pleading for respect as if he's not getting it. Give me a break! He's an F1 rookie leading a truly charmed life, beating his teammate, raising eyebrows, showing real promise and perhaps blossoming into a top tier driver with a top tier salary and he wants... more respect from polish fans?!?! Ridiculous!!
I'll say this... The thing that has always irked me about Russell is his chipper disposition and PR-friendly spiel. I now believe he's nice to people just so that they praise him back.

Ha - a bit rough on George, j-s!
I do agree that he comes across a bit that way, and it does grate me somewhat whenever Claire talks about his latest PowerPoint presentation, but a lot on his shoulders at the tender age of 21 and much to learn, including dealing with adverse social media attacks.
You need to be thick skinned and probably overly-defensive when the best he can do is come 2nd last on a normal day (unlike the other 2 rookies), so I think we need to give him a bit of slack.
As for the Polish attacks, I'm sure, like all social media, it's limited to a small number of trolls who enjoy that sort of thing. You can't generalise that trait to a whole country of people.

Shame? Whame is what I will write couple lines later. But, firstly...
It as very sad that Williams and George won't have a chance to see and experience Polish welcome, great crowd attitude and hospitality.
coming back to shame...
Shame is when Williams Racing won't appear on the scheduled event.
Shame is when it appears hours before.
Shame is when there won't be a Williams F1 showcar to drive with and we will be seeing Lotus car painted in WR livery :O
Is it a divorce :-) Maybe.
For sure Robert HAAS it's own reasons.
