Quote:

DIRECTOR of rugby Paul Gustard felt some of the officiating was “a little bit unfair” in Harlequins’ 19-14 defeat to Worcester Warriors at The Stoop.

A Jamie Shillcock try, along with 14 points from the boot of Jono Lance, and a defensive effort that kept Quins scoreless from the 15th minute earned Warriors their first away win of the season.

Gustard admitted that the decisions he felt went against his side were not the reason they lost the game.

But he believed Warriors came with “a deliberate plan” when it came to how they competed at the breakdown.

“I felt Worcester were a very streetwise team around the breakdown.” said Gustard.

“They got away with a bit, they don’t roll away, they put their hands past the ruck.

!For large blocks in that second half we were inside their third and we never got the reward we needed to get, either through our own play or the referee penalising them.

“We gave away three or four penalties for contesting on the floor in the breakdown, and we didn’t get one. It felt to me that was a little bit unfair.”

Try playing for Worcester!

We have had apology after apology after apology from referees for the way they handled our games. Even Dean Ryan took our case to the RFU!!

"irked"!??

Of Course he is irked--it is the right of the other 11 premiership teams not to lose to Worcester .Didn't the referee understand that ?!!! Well done everybody--team ,coaches and the flag waving supporters that endured the conditions on behalf of all the supporters . By the way let's get Irish players whenever we can-love the attitude.

'For large blocks in that second half we were inside their third'

Quins - only 32% territory perhaps tells a different story

What he’s said is great isn’t it. How many DORs have called us streetwise in the past. I’ll take that as very positive.

What a hypocrite Gustard is ! Consistently the most cynical & biggest cheats visiting Sixways for the past many years complaining about a team that came back from two tries behind to beat them.

They don’t like it up ‘em Captain Mainwaring!(Sm138)

Watch the game carefully and you will see his complaint was clearly his mindset and how HE had coached Quins to play against us.

They were at it the whole game and got away with murder.

He's the only DoR who never gives any credit to the opposition, the opposite of say Rob Baxter. It must be his upbringing at Leicester when they had a divine right to win and if they lost it was because of the referee.
