This is not good news for Marco or the club.

BACK-ROWER Marco Mama is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering some internal bleeding in his troubled right leg.

Worcester Warriors boss Alan Solomons said Mama would be out for “about four to six weeks” but went to see a specialist today to get a clearer prognosis.

Mama underwent four operations in early May to repair his leg after being diagnosed with compartment syndrome, a condition that occurs when pressure within the muscles builds to dangerous levels.

A long recovery process followed before returning to full fitness ahead of the start of this Gallagher Premiership campaign.

But Mama has now been hit by an injury setback after hobbling off in the closing stages of last week’s 24-20 defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

Solomons said Mama had sustained “a bleed into the same leg” that he had injured previously and had already undergone a fasciotomy – a surgical procedure that prevents tissue death.

“We have got to wait and see with Marco,” said Solomons after Saturday’s 19-14 victory at Harlequins.
