Marler - Once again

Joe Marler, the England and Harlequins prop, Marler is on the verge of deciding to quit rugby with immediate effect.

It is understood that the 29 year-old has become increasingly dissatisfied since he was given a 10-week ban earlier this month for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones by the genitals during England’s 33-30 victory three weeks ago.

It was reported by the Mail on Sunday that Marler had become “disillusioned” after receiving the ban and widespread criticism on social media which led to him to suspend both his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Both are now active again, although Marler has refrained from posting much content bar a retweet on Saturday regarding Harlequins' use of mindfulness in aiding their players’ performance and resilience while practising social-distancing during the coronavirus lockdown....

Oh dear, never mind, he won't be missed.

Ummm..
More important things to worry about than dear old Joe.

Don't blame him, everyone is too quick to take offence on behalf of others.

Alun 'the legend' Wyn threw him under a bus as well. As said, the world has other things to worry about rather than something about nothing, but to Joe, this is his livelihood and his passion for almost his entire life.

To be fair, AWJ did get very sanctimonious about the 'tickle'. This from a man who overtly tried to wind up Sinckler and others over the years. Let he who is without sin etc........

Mr Marler is very good at handing it out but not, it seems , so good at receiving it back. He tried to wind up Ash some many months ago but got very peeved when Ash and serveral others all refused to rise and just laughed at him. He left the field shortly afterwards. Yellow card, I think.

When I used to play many years ago there was always a lot of verbal flying back and forth. Nobody tried to cop a feel though. Different strokes........(Sm102)

It’s part and parcel of Marler’s game (and something at which Quins in general excel). Remember when he got Hask carded a few years ago? He cannot then throw a hissy-fit when it backfires. Generally like Marler, but this isn’t a good look.

Was this the game that he went up into the crowd to kick off with a fan?

As always with stories like this it is probably more sensible to wait and see if there is any truth in it before condemning anyone.

Marler acted stupidly and got caught so cant really blame anyone but himself...but have no time for AWJ who is a wind up merchant himself. Both as bad as each other and will probably look back and think they should have acted differently. Farrell is another one.

Sometimes your actions will back fire

‘Hoist with his own petard’ for me. Perhaps if he was as passionate about the game and his career as he wants us to believe, then he would have knuckled down like his fellow professionals and cut out his antics as he matured.

Having watched his vast catalogue of wind ups, cheap shots and stupidity over the years, the fact he is now throwing his toys out of the pram because everyone else is bored of him too just makes me laugh.

Saw him on the Rugby Club last year and he just came across as a self obsessed idiot - a total narcissist.

Having said that, AWJ and the Welsh making a meal of it is a bit rich too as I’m sure he’s handed out more than his fair share.
