Do we get insurance money etc if a player is out for a significant period ?
Hate to say it, but if we don’t then we have to move on and he should probably retire to save his body for later in life. It isn’t value for money and the other 3 lads are good.

I was beginning to get a feeling this might be the case. Shame.

Insurance pays out for injuries of 12 weeks or more, you also get additional salary cap credit at this point to provide cover

I've felt the same way for a while WP.
I suppose there is also the world cup on his mind, I assume he has one foot on the plane to Japan. If he get injured or banned again in the match against Exeter or Glos in the final (I'm hopeful) then no doubt he'd be out of the squad once again.

The article is only dated today but was posted yesterday. Although it could be about last week it does say about last saturdays game and how Boydy said they decided not to risk him. Thus I take it as meaning this week and so no Dylan

Did say to the wife that I don’t think we will see him in a Saints shirt again and I’m beginning to think that it may be the case. It’s controversial I know but is he really our best hooker, yes they say he is a good leader but does he have the open play skills impact like Mikey or Reece or fish.

I mentioned before, depending on contract lengths left, I think we might see one of Mikey or Dylans not renewed.... purely down to salary cap and we have 2 youngsters who have more than proved themselves and be considerably cheaper than both of those mentioned?
Sad, that our club and sport has to be run like a business

If our club captain is missing a semifinal because he doesn’t want to get injured for England, why bother having him?
However I don’t for a minute think he would do that.

Spot on WP...
As soon as you pay players the game changes. In old days on shamateurism only a handful of players profited from playing and you could have a relaxed approach to squad size and retain registrations indefinitely.

I know its a professional sport, obviously!
I was just stating my opinion, 1 of them may go, but it is sad that basically its now a business as much if not more than a sport, sentiment has gone out the window and rightly so as you state its professional now.
But players that have given 110% for the club some for years are basically commodities (appreciate they get paid well for it) and think the players we talking about are Saints through and through, my time of following Saints crosses from Amateur to Professional, so think its a bit sad.... and could feel for either of them if they were to be let go, but understand why for reasons posted in my original post

i posted a few weeks ago that this is Dyl's swansong, he is hanging on for a WC slot. we wont see him post WC, he will retire.
Boyds biggest problem is that he doesn't have confidence that he has a huge amount of game time minutes in his legs. it would be a risk selecting him. Probably the safest bet is to start him and play him for 30/40 mins and he knows he has a hooker who can go a full game as back up in case he doesn't last that long. Putting him on bench, hooker goes down early as last week and then he is faced with playing a full game with no back up

If I was running an amateur club where a player had successive concussions, was always away playing for County and then had successive injuries/was barely ever available, I would probably be looking at other solutions.

This is when it would be great if we had a Johnson/ Thacker type hooker... one who is comfortable playing Back Row or at 2, meaning we would have a secondary cover should Dylan start then have to come back on to cover an injury.

Walks, my interpretation is the worry is that the knee won't stand a full game rather than his general fitness.

I am a big fan of Dylan
However I just cannot see how he can expect to be selected for the WC he just doesn’t have the game time Same applies for this weekend
In addition does he really want to risk another bang to the head and be maimed for the rest of his life
There comes a point when common sense and sanity steps in. Time to hang the boots up
