Leeds managed to secure the 2nd win of the season after a hard fought victory over Saracens. Incredibly, the Tykes managed to secure a point in the 38th minute when Captain and No. 8 Dan Hyde crossed for the Tykes 4th try, earning the try scoring bonus point.
The 2nd half saw Saracens stage a remarkable comeback: At half-time, Leeds went in 28-10 ahead and looked to have the game sewn up, but Saracens came out fighting (although not literally!), scoring 21 points to Leeds' 3.
With the game tied at 31-31 it looked like Saracens were odds on to snatch a win from under the Tykes' nose, but Man-of-the-Match Dan Scarbrough crossed in the corner in the last minute to give Leeds a little more breathing room. Still tense into the dying moments, it was not until Hodge scored deep into injury time after charging down Goode's clearence that the win was put beyond all doubt.
Six tries in one game - and good ones at that - was a sight to behold but fair play to Saracens they were very resilient in the 2nd half, and some good play from their backs made this a very entertaining game of Rugby, albeit not for those Tykes fans of a weak disposition.
The official Man-of-the-Match was Dan Scarbrough, and though this is difficult to dispute, the fans have singled out Phil Christophers for particular praise. if ever there were any doubts about his speed, ability to take contact, and his ability to put in big tackles of his own, then these doubts were swept aside in this game.
