Jamie Mayer Position Centre Date of Birth 16/04/1977 Previous Clubs Bristol Height 1.79m Tykes Debut v Bath 02/09/01  International Honours 8 Scotland caps     Jamie Mayer joined the Tykes at the start of the Tykes first year in the Premiership. A strong runner and powerful defender he was hoping to establish himself and Leeds in the top flight and also regain his position in the Scottish international ranks. Whilst quoted as enjoying his time with the Tykes, Mayer's first season ended unhappily. Jamie sustained a severe hamstring injury just as he was cementing a starting spot in the team and running into some form and a few tries, including a particularly slick one against Ponty in the Parker Pen. Before the arrival of the 2 Springboks Mulder & Van Straaten the Leeds midfield had struggled with Mayer, Woof and Davies each having the opportunity to make a position their own as well as a brief reappearance from Graham Mackay. The Mayer's challenge for the year ahead is to hopefully returning to full fitness & to stake a claim for a regular first team place. Competition for the Leeds centre spots will again be fierce with the two Boks and Tristan Davies still available.
