Saturday Danny Mills "celebrated" a goal 6 inches from the
face of Wolves defender Lee Naylor. The scene was similar to the one
which dominated our papers when Manchester United played Arsenal. The
Arsenal players were punished, but will Mills? Nobody
needs reminding of the recent ugly scenes when the final whistle blew at
Old Trafford after the Manchester United Vs Arsenal Game. Ruud
V Nistlerooy had missed a penalty and some Arsenal players celebrated
his miss inches away from his face. The scenes were ugly and the FA, who
are keen to stamp out this sort of thing from our game punished Arsenal
for their actions. At
the Riverside Stadium on Saturday a very similar thing happened
involving `Boro defender Danny Mills. After
a tussle between Mills and Naylor, Boro star Mendieta thumped a stunning
shot into the net. Then, in an aggressive manner Danny Mills celebrated
the goal inches away from Naylors face, causing uproar in the Wolves
camp We
want to know if the FA will treat Mills like they treated Arsenal, if
so, Mills can expect a fine and a ban at the very least. wolvesfc.co.uk
sent the following letter to the Football Association and are awaiting
their reply. The
letter reads:
I
am writing regarding the trouble on the pitch from Saturdays Premiership
clash between Middlesbrough Football Club and Wolverhampton Wanderers. I
am sure you are aware, and if you are not, the relevant people are,
about the trouble which took place on the pitch both during and after
the game between players of both Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton
Wanderers. Wolvesfc.co.uk,
an unofficial website aimed at the true Wolves Fan has been bombarded
with requests asking us to write to you regarding the incident involving
Danny Mills on Saturday. It
is quite clear, as highlighted by the media both in text and in visual
pictures that, once Middlesbrough had scored their first goal, Danny
Mills appears to goad Wolves defender Lee Naylor, to such extent that
all three officials are forced to enter the field of play to try and
calm matters down. This
is very similar to the reaction of certain Arsenal Players who were, and
rightly so in our opinion, punished. As
the Referee of the game cautioned Danny Mills I suspect that this
incident was mentioned in the Referee`s report and we would like to know
if you are prepared to view and deal with this matter in the same, and
fair way in which you did for the Manchester United Vs Arsenal game? It
is highlighted in the media on a regular basis that certain people
believe Arsenal are “picked on” and as you deny that this is the
case, it will be interesting to see what punishment, if any, you see fit
for the actions of Danny Mills after the first Middlesbrough goal. From
my personal position as a Home and Away season ticket holder for my team
and as an Editor of a Football Website it is clear that the average
Football Fan demands consistency in how the Football Association deal
with matters off the field and how Referee`s take charge of a game on
the field. We
