Wolves went down fighting in the heat of Madeira losing 1-0 to Maritimo , after the 5-1 defeat by Sporting the lads performed well and fly home in high spirits.
The game started frantically in the searing heat of Madeira , and in the 9th minute it was Wolves that had the first opportunity in the form of Kenny Miller when he strolled through the Maritimo defence only to drag the ball wide of the keeper and out of play.
Wolves attacked again shortly after were unlucky to have a Dean Sturridge effort ruled out for a Shaun Newton handball early in the attack.
It was all Wolves early on but Maritimo gave Wolves a fright when Micheal Oakes kept out an Alan free kick which he tipped over smartly.
Wolves went in to the half time break thinking they should be leading but did the performance was top class and a welcome change to the last game.
The second half barely started when Wolves went 1-0 down through newly introduced striker Quim , Wolves were at sixes and sevens when the keeper kicked a massive goal kick ,which landed straight to Quim who lobbed neatly over a stranded Oakes.
It was a massive blow for Wolves to be losing and further chances later on from Kevin Cooper and an Alex Rae long distance strike narrowly went wide.
At the end of the day Wolves came out of this game smelling of roses and it was a much improved performance , the heat like it did with the England team in the world cup took its toll at times but i'm sure another game in Portugal we would have beaten the next team,we havent got another game and Wolves fly back home in preperation for Kidderminster at Aggborough on wednesday.
Cya there folks i'm looking forward to it more now.
MARITIMO 1 WOLVES 0
