Information |
Graham Kavanagh started his career with Irish side, Home Farm, but was quickly snapped up by Middlesbrough who saw him as a player with some potential. During his 5-year spell at the Riverside, Kavanagh made 35 league appearances, scoring 3 goals; he also spent a brief loan period with Darlington during those 5 years, playing 5 games for the club. After a one-month loan spell with Stoke, The Potters were quick to snap up Kavanagh on a full-time basis, and he joined Stoke for a fee of £250,000. Kavanagh spent 5 happy seasons with Stoke, leading them to cup glory in 2000 winning the Auto-Windscreens Shield in 2000. Kavanagh left the club he loved so dear, in the pre-season of 2000/1, moving to the Bluebirds for a record £1,000,000 fee. Kavanagh was the first £1million player to join Cardiff City. It was a great first season for Kav in Wales, captaining the Bluebirds to a play-off semi-final, and cup success in the F.A.W Premier Cup. Kavanagh made 48 appearances last season for Cardiff, scoring 13 goals, surely the most enjoyable of these was his fantastic free-kick, beating Leeds United's, Nigel Martyn to put Cardiff on their way in the biggest cup-shock of last season. Kavanagh's superb season was rounded off in style when he was awarded the 'Player of the Year Award' in May. |
