Match Report - Bangor

Chester failed to make it three wins on the bounce against Welsh opposition as they struggled against League of Wales outfit Bangor City on Saturday.

After impressive performances against, Buckley Town and Holywell FC, the few City suppporters who travelled over the border into Wales were understandably disappointed in Mark Wright's teams performance against Bangor City.

A more settled team made no half time substitutions as they did in their two previous friendly ties. City found early squandered chances costly as a spirited Bangor City team dug in and did'nt make it easy for their English visitors.

Early in the game Beesley from no more than 2 yards out found the ball at his feet and somehow stabbed it over. As the game progressed the team from Wales who will play in a European qualifying round next month began to get into the game and created the odd chance. However Chester opened the scoring when the Bangor keeper came out to clear but cleared no further than Steve Brodie who volled home from no less than 40 yards.

Bangor City playing as if it was a championship decider against bitter rivals seemed to forget it was a friendly and commited some over the top, rash and fearce tackles.

After the half time interval the Bangor players continued with there strong competitive edge and a 16 man brawl broke out in the centre circe. The Bangor number 9 (Just found out he's an ex Wrexham player) made a number of bad challenges that angered the Chester following.

With 12 minutes remaining till full time and Chester's 3rd friendly win, Banger swung in a cross which Wayne Brown missed, and the Bangor striker had the easy job of knocking the ball into the back of the net. City pushed in the last ten minutes but were unable to find the winner

A poor performance by City, lets hope we see better things tomorrow against the Unibond's Colwyn Bay
