Noisey Sharapova upsets Dechy

Russian new teen sensation Maria Sharapova caused her biggest scalp in professional tennis when beating Nathalie Dechy in superb fashion 6-3, 6-2 but was warned about her grunting

The 16-year old received a warning from Kim Craven who was the umpire for the clash. Grunting has been a familiar past time in tennis where Steffi Graf complained about Monica Seles' grunting in a Wimbledon final and was warned. But Sharapova had the last laugh by beating Dechy the 5th seed.

The 7th seed Alexandra Stevenson was yet again a loser to Virginie Razzano of France 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Elena Likhovtseva was also a second round loser to Stephanie Foretz 6-3, 6-4.

British hopes of a home winner was over when Jane O'Donoghue lost to 3rd seed Magdalena Maleeva 6-2, 6-4.
