Lindsay Davenport marched into her 70th career final by beating Elena Dementieva and now faces Jennifer Capriati when Amelie Mauresmo was forced to pull out with food poisoning
Davenport who is in tremendous form this summer on the US hardcourts didnt wrap up the first set has quickly has needed but eventually won 6-4. Dementieva who has reached the semi-finals of the US Open has struggled this season and still lacks consistency in her game. The second set was even easier for Davenport the Former World Number 1 strolling through 6-1.
Jennifer Capriati moved one step closer to winning her first title since the Australian Open 2002 in a match hyped match against in-form and back from injury Amelie Mauresmo but was hit once more again in her semi-final. Capriati claimed the first set 6-3 then claimed a 3-1 lead in the second set when Mauresmo withdrew due to suspected food poisoning fortunately it isn't a injury. The French star will look at a good run in the US Open next week but has a tough draw.
