Capriati defeated at Kremlin Cup

No. 1 Seed Jennifer Capriati from the USA is ousted in the second round by Russian Elena Bovina at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow Russia. After losing a matchpoint Capriati lost in three sets 6-4 4-6 6-7 (3).

"She is a tough player to play because you don't really know what she is going to do," Capriati said. "She hits some unbelievable shots."

Nadia Petrova of Russia seeded at No. 6 was defeated by Israels Anna Pistolesi in two sets 6-3 6-3.

Jelena Kostanic of Croatia beat Ukranian Tatiana Perebiynis 6-2 6-2 Tina Pisnik of Slovenia defeats Russian Elena Likhovtseva 6-4 6-3

Svetlana Kuznetsova also from Russia beat Marlene Weingartner of Germany 6-2 6-4
