Myskina meets Mauresmo in Moscow final

Russian Anastasia Myskina meets Amelie Mauresmo from France at the Kremlin Cup final in Moscow. Mauresmo defeated Russian Elena Dementieva 6-4 6-2. Anastasia Myskina won her match against Anna Pistolesi from Israel 6-2 6-0.

Dementieva was well underway to play her third consecutive WTA final and played very well and leading in the first set 4-2. But Mauresmo fought back to take the remaining games for the first set. Mauresmo had found her way to beat the Russian who won 10 matches in a row.

Dementieva said her game was good and played very well up to the 4-2 lead until her next two games were a little sloppy. She said she was rushing her shots and didn’t take the time to finish off the rally. She was looking to make the points too soon. And she never found the strength to come back and fight for a victory.

Mauresmo said that it was never an easy match. Most important point in her game was that she found rhythm in her game strategy.

Anastasia Myskina said she was trying to finish her match as soon as possible. She did succeed in her mission with a 6-2 6-0 victory. Myskina outplayed her Israeli opponent from the baseline and will play her second consecutive final since she won at last weeks Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig.
