Eurosport and the WTA Tour have announced they will extent their multi-year broadcast agreement. The agreement will mean that Eurosport will be broadcasting more WTATour events than ever before throughout Europe.
Filderstadt, October 9th 2003.
Eurosport started in 1999 broadcasting 80 matches from WTA tournaments,
they will be covering WTA Tour events throughout 2007. There will be more than
200 matches broadcasted in 2004 from Grand Slams and Tier I and II tournaments.
Each year Eurosport will bring 420 hours of coverage of 27 WTA Tour
tournaments.
WTA Tour Chief Executive Officer Larry Scott said that the
extraordinary commitment by both Eurosport and Recency Enterprises speaks for
the attractiveness and vitality of today’s women's tennis all over the world.
Both have clearly recognized the enormous value of covering professional
women's tennis.
Along with announcing of the prolonged partnership between Eurosport
and the WTA Tour the promotional Magic Bus was unveiled. The Volkswagen bus
used in Eurosports tennis leader will travel from tournament to tournament to
promote the "Get In Touch With Your Feminine Side"campaign. This
campaign is to promote the sportschannel WTA Tour programming. Eurosport is
aiming for over 220 million viewers across Europe while the network is
broadcasting in 100 million European homes.
