Swiss Patty Schnyder will be Patty Schnyder Hofmann from now on. She married Rainer Hofmann, a former private eye from Germany, on December the 8th in Baden-Baden, Gemany. There was a small celebration with four of their best Swiss friends and Hofmanns parents.
The #23
ranked Schnyder didn’t bring her parents and brother to the wedding party.
Patty Schnyder did break off family ties. There is no contact between the
parents and their daughter. “I don't
want to talk to them and have a relationship with them. They hurt me so many
times and they were really terrorizing me. They could not let go and let me
live my life and respect my decisions.” Schnyder said in a recent interview
with Tennis Week.
The marriage has worried the Schnyder family: Mother Iris Schnyder said
she was really disappointed with Patty’s decision to marry Rainer Hofmann. “It
is simply a disaster that our astrayed daughter is shifting into her ruin being
married," she said about the family drama. "Poor Patty; she has not
one friend or member of family, even not her brother, who she loved so much.”
The parents are worried about their daughter after falling into the
wrong hands of an alternative therapist at the age of 20. This Rainer Harnecker
had a lot of influence on Schnyder and acted as her coach. According to this
new coach it was best to break with the family, keep a strict diet program and
drink large quantities of orange juice.
When Schnyder met with Hofmann in Munich he was able to get her away
from Harnecker and her unhealthy way of living. They soon started to travel
together and Rainer Hofmann moved in with her.
Schnyder wanted to pick up her own life again and didn’t need ‘guidance’
from her parents. According to Schnyder her parents have told lies about
Hofmanns past. She has a different opinion about her husband and she is not
letting her parents tell her what is wrong and what is right for her.
