Suarez wins controversial match in Canberra

Paola Suarez claimed the Canberra Womens Classic in a controversial final against Silvia Farina Elia. The Italian won the first set 6-3 then the Argentianian hit back to win the second 6-4 pushing it into a deciding set.

The Italian second seed broke away in the third set to lead 6-5 and serve for the match fighting to a 40-30 score and when Suarez the numbder 1 seed failed to return a ball Farina Elia thought she had claimed the title.

Suarez called the ball out, the linesman called it in but the Umpire overruled the ball to deny victory for Silvia turning the match around taking it into a tie-break which Paola Suarez won 7-5.
