Kim and Elke Clijsters made their doubles debut

Kim and Elke Clijsters played as a double team on a WTA tournament for the first time at the Proximus Diamond Games. The new doubles team turned out to be a success beating Selima Sfar and Caroline Vis in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Team Clijsters took a 2-1 lead after breaking Caroline Vis who had a weak serve ending her game with a double fault.

Elke Clijsters looked a little nervous at the start of the match making some unforced errors and not serving well.

She gained confidence when the Belgian team took the lead. The young Clijsters played some good winners and started serving aces as well, winning the first set 6-1.

The second set looked like a complete walkover Vis and Sfar didn’t stand a chance in trying to turn the match in their advantage. Elke and Kim Clijsters secured their sport in the second round in no time ending the second set 6-0.

After the match Kim said she enjoyed the moment and that she was going to cry. She also said that Elke has great potential playing doubles. They want to play again in the future.

Elke was so excited about their win that she started to talk in a speed that no one understood.

In the last singles match of the day Italian Silvia Farina Elia defeated Maria Sanchez Lorenzo from Spain.

The 8th seed didn’t have many problems beating her #45 ranked opponent Sanchez Lorenzo. She won in two straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
