Clijsters and Farina Elia could not win on advantage. Farina Elia took advantage by taking over Clijsters’ attacks but failed to win the next point. Then it was Clijsters who missed her chance to break on advantage hitting a ball long. Farina Elia was the next one to take advantage but hits her ball wide. Clijsters hits a winner for her next breakpoint; she turned it into a winning point when Farina Elia hits the net.

On 5-3 and Clijsters serving for the first set it was over for Farina Elia. Clijsters took the set and hits her way with ease through the second set.

Farina Elia never had a chance to break in the second set and never had a chance to hold her own service game. “Kim is very powerful and to win a point you always have to come up with your best shot.” Silvia Farina Elia said.

She was feeling a little tired but she is satisfied with the way she played today. She said she lost it when she missed the smash at the net to make it 4 all in the first set.

“It was a great atmosphere with the crowd and I didn’t feel disadvantaged with the crowd rooting for Kim. This is a day to remember even though I have lost”, the runner-up concluded.

Kim Clijsters said that she was overwhelmed with the crowd when she entered the arena. 15.000 spectators all rooting for her made her flesh crawl even in her neck and on her face.

“The feeling that you mean so much to many people is strange, I can’t explain that feeling. When you realize that kids are playing with the same rackets and grip as I do, it’s hard to understand and that is why I like playing tennis as well. But I always just act the way I am”.

“This title is very important to me because it is my first Belgian victory and its almost sad that the week is already over and that I have to wait another year to come back. I really want to win that diamond and gold racket as well.”

She was not aware that she had won a car as well, “We had to walk to a car that I won but I was not told about that, I didn’t know I won a car as well. Is it a part of the prize money?” she asked. “I don’t know if I can keep it because I just signed a contract with Opel. I don’t know what car mum is driving so maybe its something for her”, Clijsters said.

She is taking two weeks off putting her rackets aside and she plans to visit relatives with Lleyton. They move into their new home in Bree for the first time this Sunday and she doesn’t even know if there is any food in the house. She might want to do some shopping first thing on Monday morning. Lleyton’s coach tried Belgian hot waffles for the first time so she might be making hot waffles next since he enjoyed the local dish.
