Jennifer Capriati will look for a chance to take revenge at Amelie Mauresmo who defeated her in the Berlin semi final last week. Mauresmo had no problem reaching the Ladies German Open final beating Capriati two and zero.
It took Jennifer Capriati three years to come out as the victor in a match against Serena Williams. Last time she took the victory they had met in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
The match turned in favour of Capriati after Williams had a better start, in the ninth game Capriati took two break points. With a crosscourt winner she converted the second break point and served for the set.
In the second set Williams tried to hang on but was forced hitting too many errors. Capriati managed to break Williams in the third and fifth game taking a decisive lead.
Serving for the match Capriati hit a double fault at match point. Williams didn’t take her chance to re-break, Capriati fought off two more break points and served for the second set and match 6-4 6-4.
French woman Amelie Mauresmo got herself a spot in the Rome final after defeating Russia’s Vera Zvonareva 6-2 6-3.
