Jennifer Capriati into the next round in Paris.

Jennifer Capriati of the USA defeated Czech Kveta Peschke in her second round match. Capriati came back after trailing 5-3 in the first set winning it 7-5 and 6-3.

The 28-year-old American is playing her eleventh French Open, winning the title in 2001. In her first appearance in 1990 the then 14-year-old reached a surprising semi final but defeated by Monica Seles.

The 28-year-old Czech Kveta Peschke who had her best French Open results in 1999 and 2000 reaching the third round had a chance to win the first set. She could not hold off Capriati winning four consecutive games. Capriati hit three winners to end the set 7-5 in 41 minutes.

In the second set Capriati breaks Peschke in the second game but had to face a re-break when Peschke converted her fifth breakpoint. Peschke ties the set 2 all with a love game taking advantage of Capriati’s unforced errors.

After Capriati held her service game for a 4-3 lead she breaks for 5-3. Peschke could not convert her gamepoint and hits a double fault for Capriati’s advantage. The Czech hits the ball wide and the American is ready to serve out the match.

At 40 love Capriati hits a double fault and leaves the door open for a Peschke comeback when she hits the net for 40-30. In the 32 minute of the set Capriati hits a good serve for game, set and match, 7-5, 6-3.
