Results at the Ordina Open in ‘sHertogenbosch NL.

Michaella Krajicek, who just won the French Open junior doubles title two weeks ago, was leading in the first set but she could not hold serve at de deciding points. After serving for a 4- 1 lead, her opponent Claudine Schaul from Luxembourg managed to break the Dutch youngster. At 4 all Krajicek failed to hold serve and the Luxembourg was ahead 5-4 and served for the first set.

Michaella Krajicek didn’t look too happy with her game and did not look very fit. After she lost her first service game in the second set she asked for the WTA trainer and received medical treatment off court. At a 3-1 lead for Schaul Krajicek passed out and it took some time before people rushed on court to support her. The umpire announced that Michaella Krajicek had to retire and Schaul won the match.

Michaella was brought to ‘sHertogenbosch’ hospital for examination. She told the WTA doctor she had a lot of pain her stomach area. The combination of the emotions playing centre court with the sun beating the grass and having problems with her menstrual period was according to the WTA doctor the main reason for passing out. She was also having a low blood pressure and blood tests had been taken. It is the second time that she passed out while having her menstrual cycle.

While this side of women tennis is not much talked about its known that players react different to the feminine side tennis. Steffi Graf once lost a grand slam final because it was her time in the month.

Schaul’s countrywoman Anne Kremer defeats Katarina Srebotnik  6-1, 6-3. Jelena Jankovic hammered Gisela Dulko 6-1, 6-1.
