Sharapova meets S.Williams in the Wimbledon final.

Siberian born Maria Sharapova is the second youngest Wimbledon finalist in the open era since Martina Hingis won the title in 1997. The youngster fought her way back into the match after the rain delay. Experienced Lindsay Davenport won the first set and saw Sharapova won the second set tiebreak.

"In the second set I had a few chances and every time she came up with the goods," said Davenport. "When we came back after the rain break she definitely stepped up her game and was more in charge of the match than I was," Lindsay Davenport probably played her last Wimbledon match.

"This is unbelievable," said Sharapova. "I don't know how I'm in the final. It's amazing, it's my favourite Grand Slam. I never expected to do so well here so early. I just kept believing in myself."

Serena Williams is well on her way to her third Wimbledon title. She defeats Amelie Mauresmo for a place in the final. "I'm really excited to be in the final because it's been a tough year. This is definitely the most special moment in my career," Williams said.
