Jankovic defeats Raymond, Smashnova beats Sugiyama

Jankovic, Smashnova, Zuluaga and Osterloh made it into the second round at day one of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany.

Jelena Jankovic from Serbia defeats Lisa Raymond and steps into the main tournament after winning 6-4, 1-6 and 7-6(4).

Jankovic was bothered by an injury on her upper left leg but could hold on to finish the match.

Anna Smashnova of Israel did have a better game today defeating higher ranked Ai Sugiyama of Japan in two sets 6-3, 7-6(3).

Fabiola Zuluaga of Colombia did win over Belgian Els Callens in two 6-0, 7-5.

Lilia Osterloh of the USA defeats Tatiana Panova of Russia in three sets 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-2.

Alicia Molik of Australia defeats Italian Francesca Schiavone in two 6-2, 6-3.
