Raymond is finding more resistance than she had to face in the first set. Now Dementieva was breaking again for a 4-2 lead and she held on to her own service for 5-3.

The moment was there for Dementieva to take the second set but she missed a smash for deuce, giving Raymond a spark of hope the American hits a winner for advantage and takes the game with a winning volley at the net, still a 4-5 lead for Dementieva.

Now serving for the set Dementieva win the point with a lob with is returned into the net. That was the only point she made before Raymond could tie for 5 all when Dementieva started to hit unforced errors.

Raymond held on to her service game for 6-5 and took a 0-40 lead at Dementieva’s serve. Raymond hits a service return into the net, twice. At 30-40 Dementieva wins a rally for deuce. When Dementieva misses the opportunity to score with her second smash Raymond takes advantage and wins the game, the set and the match when Dementieva hits the net.
