Due to a troublesome right knee injury Lindsay Davenport withdraws from the Hopman Cup and will be replaced by Meghann Shaugnessy. Davenport hopes to be fit for the Australian Open which starts at the 17th January.

Davenport, who has constant knee problems since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in 2002, waited until the last possible moment before cancelling her trip to Perth.

"She's decided to have some more treatment and take another week to get over it," her manager Tony Godsick said.
