Two times former Champion Jennifer Capriati has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to a right shoulder injury adding to a long list of absentees

The American who claimed the title in 2001 and 2002 defeating Martina Hingis in both finals has not played since the US Open semi-finals in September. She earlier pulled out of the Medibank International in Sydney due to the pain she had sustained after practice.

Another big name out of the first Grand Slam of the year, already Australian Open has lost Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne making way for new names to claim their first major title.
