One more win for Serena Williams

After a long and exciting match, Serena Williams beat Nadia Petrova 6:1 3:6 and 6:3 and stands now in the quarterfinal, where she has to face world number two Amélie Mauresmo. Also Svetlana Kuznetsova and Maria Sharapova won their matches and are in the next round.

Nadia Petrova had a bad start in her match against Serena Williams, with too many unforced errors, Petrova lost the first set easily 1:6. Williams was the better player, and dominated the first set with hard groundstrokes.
In the second set, Petrova came better in the match, now it was Serena who made too many unforced errors. With more self-confident, Petrova started to serve better and started to dominate the match. Williams could not handle the pressure, Petrova gave her, and lost the set 3:6.
Serena found her game and her serve back in the third set, her strokes were again much more controlled and it soon stood 4:0 for Williams. But Petrova, who gave not up, used her chances and came back to 3:4. Serena started again to concentrate and soon Petrova started again to make too many unforced errors. Williams who saw her chance finished the match 6:1 3:6 and 6:3.
Williams will next face french woman Amélie Mauremso, who her match easier in two sets against Evgenia Linetskaya 6:2 6:4.
