Macca Minds: Who do you want in 2007?

As part of the Macca Minds series we asked you who you would like at McLaren and who you think will be at McLaren in 2007. Here are some of the responses we received:

Give JPM or Kimi a Renault...they would outpace Alonso without a doubt...Looking at the stats and driving styles, JPM is the guy with more guts, awesome overtaking where others wouldn't dare, though sometimes he makes wrong decisions...Kimi's fast and stays cool...but that's boring... where's the fun in having over 900hp just to be tailgating?? ...Alonso? I just don't see a very exciting driving there.. So, Kimmie to Ferrari, JP to Renault ...and Senna... the greatest driver ever!!

I am a huge Mclaren fan and they absolutely MUST keep Kimi. if mclaren have Kimi and Fernando they will be unstoppable, it will be a very sad day for Mclaren fans if Kimi leaves

I think McLaren should go for Kimi.
At Present Kimi is one of the most talented driver in this business.
Kimi is a very fast driver... Kimi set 10 fastest laps in 2005.

Remember Kimi lost the title to ALONSO only for Mercedes not for McLaren.

McLaren have shown in the past that they are well capable of handling 2 great drivers at one time. Therefore Kimi will stay at McLaren and not take up his rumoured option with Ferrari. Montoya is gone - to Renault alongside Kovaleinen (Renault will still be around for 2007, but maybe not 2008) or Montoya will go to Toyota to replace the inconsistent Trulli and place pressure on Ralf. Massa will be gone, he only ever was a stop gap. Rossi will be in at Ferrari or taken on by Red Bull and Klein swapping to Ferrari. McLaren will try to place Hamilton at a middle orderteam (BMW?) to gain experience but without him testing extensively for McLaren this year there is no chance that Ron would risk placing him alongside Alonso. Paffett does not appear to have the goods to race F1 according to the test times, but that could be deceiving. Drivers without jobs will be Fisichella, Trulli, Massa, Coulthard, both Aguri drivers, Speed, Villeneuve. Williiams will stay as they are for some time and prosper. Everyone will have wished they signed Nico Rosberg. And I am not a Williams fan, just a fan of the sport.

I hope Kimi stays for 2007. He was the one that stopped at red lights, that stayed clear of 'tennis accidents' and subsequently, the one that gained most points for McLaren

I really want it to be Monty who stays in 07. Kimi Raikkonen gives the team a bad image with some of the stuff that he does at parties etc - in the publics viewing eyes. JPM is a genuinely nice guy with a load of talent and a load of guts.

I'm an ozzie but living in Finland I really should hope Raikkonen is at my team in 2007. I don't. Hoping Ron dennis sees sense that Kimi is just a car breaker. He just doesn't know when to calm down.

As a McLaren fan I hope neither 2006 driver is at the team next year. Kimi wont get along with Fernando and will give the team a bad atmosphere. Montoya is just too ragged to be at a top team like this. I'd like Button but he has a contract (!) so I'd be happy if we could sign some young talent like Massa or Klien.

Why did they ever get rid of David. He's showing what he can do at Red Bull. Pedro de la Rosa showed he is a good racer when he stood in for Juan. If the team has any sense left then they should sign him with Fernando.

The McLaren F1 team desperately need consistency - which was lacking big style in 2005. I don't know that Juan Pablo and Raikkonen are the people for the job. Alonso is consistent but I think we need someone else like him. Barrichello would have been good, we should have acted fast and got him for 2007 before Honda signed him up.
