Robins lose to Cardiff

In their first match since the midweek sacking of Graham Allner the Robins can consider themselves unlucky to come away from Wales with no points after playing some good football.

Going into this match many people thought that this would be an easy victory for Cardiff and their predictions looked to be right after a cross from Graham Kavanagh was helped on by Barker leaving Thorne to ponce from close range.However Cheltenham pulled themseleves back into the match when Julian Alsop played the ball across the penalty area to John Finnigan who drilled the ball home.Both teams then had chances with Devaney shooting over and a close range shot from Campbell hit wide.Cardiff were applying the pressure though and it took a right footed shot from Earnshaw to put Cardiff back into the lead

The 2nd half isn't really worthy of anything note worthy except for a close range shot from Martin Devaney that was caught by Alexander in the Cardiff goal.Cardiff also had a close range header from Barker saved by Book

So a much improved preformance from Cheltenham who will still be looking for their first win of the new year when Chesterfield come to town next Saturday
