Impounding order lifted

David Richards has arrived back at Magny Cours, with news that the impounding order over BAR has been lifted, relieving the frustrations of the team.

Speaking to reporters, a clearly frustrated David Richards said "The order was totally invalid and has been lifted by the court this morning. You can quite clearly see the methodology which has been used in this situation, and we are now considering our position re damages, and we can definitely prove damage.

"It's really strange that we went into court at nine o'clock, presented our case in 10 minutes but unfortunately we were up in front of a lay judge and we didn't get a judgement until 11.30," he continued. "We went into court and said there's no basis for what you've done and it took him over two hours to agree that was the case."

The court decided that it could not decide on the case and that will now be left to the court in Monaco to consider the merits of the case in October.

It takes around 45 minutes to prepare the cars for track action, so BAR should be out on track for the first qualifying session.

"We will take it easy this afternoon on the track because there is a new layout this year," added David Richards.
