Mike Gascoyne's career in Formula 1 began in 1989 when he joined McLaren for a two-year spell as aerodynamicist. A brief sojourn as Chassis Dynamicist at Tyrrell led to a three-year post as Head of Aerodynamics at Sauber from 1991.
