East Fife 0 v. Airdrie 2

Airdrie took on East Fife at Bayview in the first round of the CIS cup on the back of a good run of form. Could Airdrie display their characteristic cup form?

Airdrie brought back Alan McManus for this game and set about systematically destroying the Fifer's who'd been doing not to badly in the league. Airdrie took the lead just before half time when Roberts played a neat one two with Varielle and curled a delicate shot high past the Fife keeper.

Despite a second half fightback Airdrie contained they bayview outfit and looked to further press for the killer goal. Substitute Alan Gow threatened with several of his trademark mazy runs, eventually setting up fellow sub Paul Ronald to score with his first and probably only touch.
