Airdrie v. Clyde Preview

By Gordon Thomson Date: 9/11/2001 Airdrie take on Clyde this weekend in Bells Division One. Last time out Airdrie ran out easy 3-0 winners at Broadwood. Can the league leaders repeat that result???? |
Airdrie will have new signing Kevin James in their team for the clash with Clyde for his first start as an Airdrie registered player. Tony Smith should also start the game on the left wing following his second half appearance last week following his injury. The Airdrie support will be looking for a decisive win this week as our league form has been rather patchy lately. Too many draws have seen Partick close the gap at the top and more importantly, the support has been getting a bit impatient with the players for their less commanding style of play. Has anyone else noticed lately that it's taking a half time teamtalk, or was that rollicking, to steady the ship. Maybe wee 'Callie could give them a rollicking, or was that teamtalk, at 2.55pm this week? Craig McPherson has looked pretty poor on the left wing lately, but he improved most last week when shunted back into the midfield. I'd bet on that being the main change this week. Who would drop out? My money is in Stuart Taylor to start from the bench, with John Henry given one more chance to impress from the start. The jury is still out on Henry. I like him, but think that our midfield looks a bit disorganised in the last fortnight. With McPherson back on the left and big McFarlane on the right, I think it will open things up a bit for Henry to show what he can do. He hasn't been too bad and deserves at least another start this week |
