Kicked Off The Park
By The Stomp Team
November 25 2004
Airdrie were left battered and bruised by a team of ex-junior team hatchet men as they went down 3-1 to the Bully "Boys" Wee at new Broomfield. David Fernandez now faces another ban as he was needlesly double red carded by an extremely dubious ref.

Airdrie 1 Clyde 3 The players couldn't really be blamed for a tired display tonight after the gruelling match they had on Sunday and the fact that they were literally "Booted" off the park at every turn by a team full of ex-junior hatchet men. Airdrie took 25 minutes before they even looked like scoring and took the lead just before half time when Fernandez broke free of his marker and ran in on the keeper, he then proceeded to round him only to be felled. A red card was surely the only option open to the ref but amazingly he only booked the keeper. Fernandez was then booked for squaring up to a Clyde defender and that was to prove costly for the striker later in the match. Austin McCann then stepped up and fired the ball into the net. The second half started much the same as the first with Clyde persistently fouling and getting off scotch free. Clyde levelled 5 minutes after the re-start when poor defending allowed Chris Aitken to level for Clyde. Ten minutes later, French striker, Fredderick Bonniface put the away side in front, from where we were sitting (The opposite end of the stadium), Bonniface looked to have handled the ball on the floor before swinging his leg at the ball and the ref failed to spot it. The Diamonds were well and truly sunk in 63 minutes when Andy Kane scored a lovely goal from 18 yards out. To round of an evening of misery for Airdrie, David Fernandez was double red carded for a flimsy half hearted handbags at dawn challenge. All in all the standard of refereeing on show was totally outrageous and I seriously thought I would never say this but there MUST be some kind of conspiracy against Airdrie from all at Park Gardens. I have never witnessed such a pre-meditated display of bully boy tactics from a team and get away with it in all my years of watching football. This merely adds to Steve Archibald's argument to cut out the "Deadwood" in Scottish refs and appoint professionals to do the job. I apologise if I seem to be over reacting to tonights game but that is just how I feel!!! your comments on the match would be much appreciated. Clyde Fans need not mail me as I won't even bother reading your comments. Airdrie Side : 1. Broto 2.
