Airdrie are on our travels to Stranraer for the first match of season 2005-2006 and this is the Broomfield Stomps first match preview of the new season.

Bells First Division

We are going to continue where we left off last season giving opinions   on games we actually intend on going to. Everything contained with in the reports will be fans points of views and in no way related to the  club.
Our first match against Stranraer sees us taking on one of the two promoted teams from the first division. Stranraer who finished runners   up to run away leaders Brechin will be a tough opening fixture.
Sandy Stewart ones again begins this season with injury problems,   Martin Hardie is out suffering from Osteitis Pubis, anyone who was at the    open meeting with Sandy Stewart will understand this. Kevin Barkey is suffering   from a broken wrist. Both should be returning to training sooner rather than later.
The good news is that both managed most of the pre-season training before   incurring the injuries and should reach full match fitness pretty quickly once they return.
The only other absentee will be Stephen McKeown who is suspended. The suspension has been carried over from last season. If we had played last week in the Bells Cup Stephen would have served his suspension then, being awarded a bye means he spends this week in the stands.

 Opponents News

Stranraer prepare for our visit with a sense of excitement, with this being their first appearance in the Bells First Division since 1999 they are looking forward to getting the season under way.
They may also be looking for a little bit of vengeance, the last time we played one another the Stranraer Tannoy announcer broke our hearts and we relegated them. Strange how football have a long memory for these sort of things.
Stranraer have there own injury worries blues defender Gary McPhee is ruled out with a broken leg while striker Michael Moore returns from suspension and is contention for a starting slot.
