The Roughyeds have provided us with another magnificent edge of the seat season yet again and in my opinion every single player deserves an award. The players have shown a remarkable battling spirit and exceeeded all our expectations. Sadly there can be only one Roughyeds.net Player of the Season...
PLAYER OF THE SEASON
The votes have now been counted and things were very close. After such a magnificent season it was always going to be difficult for you to pick one player who had stood out from the rest. We can reveal that the winner of The Roughyeds.net Player of the Season 2001-02 is :
Lee has had a fantastic season and must be one of the most improved players in the NFP. He has already attracted the attention of Super League side St Helens and ORLFC may struggle to hold onto him next season. His main attributes are his strength and his powerfull running with scares the life out of most teams defences. If he continues to improve and learn his craft he certainly has the ability and temperament to become one of the strongest and most feared forwards in the game !
In second place and just a few votes behind Lee was :
"Scruffy" has had another great season for the Roughyeds. He has had to battle
He's now regarded as a Oldham legend and is a firm favourite with the Roughyeds faithfull supporters. Hopefully he'll be around for a few more years to come and can continue to be part of ORLFC's continuing success.
In third place again just a few votes behind was :
Hopefully he can be persuaded to sign for another season because he seems to have settled at Oldham and the fans have taken to him in a big way.
2001-02
He is still learning the game but just seems to get better and better. This season he has established himself as a first team regular and always gives 100%. Lee played in almost every game this season and was certainly missed in the Roughyeds final play-off match against Batley Bulldogs.
with Keith Brennan for the hooker's position and John just got on with things in his usual hard working, determined manner. He always gives his all and never stops working for his team, during ORLFC's injury crisis he was asked to play in an unfamiliar role at loose forward and lookled liked he'd been playing there all of his career. 
He has been one of the sides most consistent players and is one of the best forwards in the NFP. Brian's experience and Super League experiece make him look a class above most players in this league and he was unlucky to get injured just as the Roughyed's looked like being on the verge of another Grand-Final appearance.
