My Baseball Story - George

Was it the Grand Slams? Was it the Triple Plays or the Strikeouts? Was it because of the atmosphere in the ballparks or the allstar ballplayers? Or was it simply that you were born into baseball-loving family? Tell us, in your own words, how did you become interested in the great game of baseball?

When Iwas much younger I visited the US a few times and noted baseball only occasionally on TV. However our visit to the Southern States in 1982 coincided with the Atlanta Braves appearance in the play offs. They were soon eliminated and our allegiance went to the Milwaukee Brewers.

We suffered with the Brewers as they fought back from impossible situations and gave us a great ride right until the Cardinals snuffed out our chances in game 6 or 7 (I can't remember which).

Fast forward to 1985 or 1986 and I remember watching the Red Sox blowing it (Bill Buckner letting one through his legs) in the World Series.

Years later Channel 5 reminds me of the great game and on a whim I fly to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays - I'm hooked and I decide this is going to be an annual treat. Next year its Toronto and Montreal (just like the moon - no atmosphere - although I love Les Expos) and last year I got to see Fenway - what could beat that - well my baseball trip 2001 is going to take in Wrigley Field and Jacobs field where I hope to see the greatest (i.e.Omar Visquel - the best shortstop of all) its got to be downhill from now on.

As I said I just love baseball.
