Meet The Fans - Quinn Anderson

My name is Quinn Anderson, and I am 17 years old.I am currently a senior at Holy Spirit High School, and hoping to go on to law school. I live in Newfoundland, Canada, and have been a big baseball fan all my life.

When did you first get interested in baseball?
I think I first really started to become interested in baseball during the 1992 season, and the Jays were contending at the time. But, I have watched baseball for as long as I can remember.

Did you ever play Little League or Softball?
Yes, I have played both.

How long did you play?
I played Little League for 4 years (I played Right Field, 2nd Base and Short Stop), and I played softball for 2 years (I played 1st base).

Seeing as you live so far from any Major League stadiums how did your interest grow?
Well, I watch the games on TV with my family every night, and when we travel to the states, we try to get to some baseball games if there is any.

How many major league games have you attended?
I have been to 10 in all.

If you could see a game at any stadium which would it be?
I would love to see the Colorado Rockies play at home.

Why did you choose this one?
I really think that their ball park is beautiful.

How many stadiums have you actually visited?
I have been to 3; Yankee Stadium, Tropicana Field, and SkyDome.

Which was your favorite?
I would have to say that Yankee Stadium was my favorite because of all the history behind it.

Which player do you think has done more to change the face of baseball than any other and why?
Jackie Robinson hands down. No two ways about this one. He got black people into the game of baseball.

If you could meet any player past or present which one would you chose?
I have met Cal Ripken Jr., but I never really got to talk to him, so I would have to say Cal. I would love to get the chance to actually sit and talk to him.

Why did you choose this player above all others?
I chose Cal because he seems like a very honest and genuine person. He has set many records and is an overall exceptional man.

What is your favorite baseball memory?
When I got the chance to meet Shawn Green in Toronto in April 2000. He has been my favorite player since I saw him play in Spring Training in 1995.

What is your least favorite baseball memory?
I would have to say when Shawn Green got hit in the wrist with a pitch and was unable to play for a while.

Of all the games you have seen on TV is there one that stands out more than any other? If so why?
I would have to say the game when Shawn Green went 30/30. It was great to see someone so deserving, and such a great player, achieve a great goal.

Who do you think will be the MVPs for both the NL and the AL?
AL- Roger Clemens NL- Shawn Green

Who do you think will win the World Series this year and why?
I think that the Yankees will win again this year. They seem to have what it takes to pull them right through to the end, no matter what their season has been like.
