Reading stutter at Cresty Road

Shy Shooting Reading payed for poor shooting and a lack of inivation. Crewe took the points and in the process went onto the same points as the royals.

Royals fans were expecting another win under the guidance of Steve Coppell especially after the great result over Sheffield United last Friday. Unfortutly as per usual with Reading our expectations are too high and we are usually left disappointed, today was no different.

Crewe started brightly and it was not long until they took the lead through there number nine, Jones. Yet another mistake from Hahnerman cost the Royals. I think it is time that we gave young Jamie Ashdown I go. The big American seemed to stop and let Jones go round him and put it in an empty goal. Yet another goal conceded in the league. We have not kept a clean sheet in the league since the away game at Wimbledon, which was Pardew's last game in charge. Coincidence? I think not! Though i feel since new boy Ivar Ingimarsson has joined we have got stronger at the back. Anyway back to the game and the Royals ended the half in dominant fashion with the best chance falling to Nicky Forster but his shot could only go straight down the throat of Crewe goalie, Clayton Ince.

Into the second half and the Royals continued to dominate but were unable to find there shooting boots. I could not remember one shot we had in the game that did not go off target or straight at Clayton Ince. Of course of you think im wrong then plaese fell free to say so on the messageboard! Though Reading dominated in Crewe's half it was the home team that looked more likely to score with hotshot Dean Ashton coming close to doubling there advantage with a shot that dipped passed the Post. Reading could never find that killer touch and in the end were left disappointed along with the fans. With our next game aginst top of the league, Wigan it gives us the perfect chance to get back on track.

Man Of The Match: Ivar Ingimarsson, best of the bunch with a solid performance in the heart of the defence.
