Reading goalkeeper Graham Stack has been cleared of raping a 22 year old law student.

The jury at Croydon Crown Court cleared Mr Stack on 1 charge of rape and 1 charge of sexual assault after a court case which has lasted nearly 2 weeks now.

The court also cleared Mr Stack's friend, Allan Smillie of 2 charges of sexual assault.

24 year old Stack made no comment on leaving the court, but his legal representative said;

"He's delighted that his innocence, which he has maintained from the very moment the allegation came out, has been established and that justice has been done."

Reading Football Club also released a statement this evening and said;

"The goalkeeper is currently on loan at Madejski Stadium from Arsenal, and will complete a permanent move to Reading in January under terms already agreed between the clubs."

It isn't expected that Stack will be involved in tomorrow's top of the table clash against Sheffield United at the Madejski Stadium.
