Joe Anderson became one of Chris Sutton's first signings for the Imps when he signed from Fulham in January 2010. A left footed defender, Anderson had played for Fulham in Europe earlier during the season and made an impressive start to his career at Sincil Bank, going straight into the starting line up.

Joe Anderson had been touted as a player with potential to be a regular in the Premiership, but as a player keen to get on with football, Anderson found the decision to move to Sincil Bank easy when he joined from Fulham in January 2010.
He moved straight into the problematic left-back position that no-one had regularly held down for many years, taking over from Aaron Brown.
Making his debut against Bolton the FA Cup, Anderson had a quiet debut before quickly impressing in the League. He also appears at this early stage to be the solution to our problematic set-pieces, for a start he can actually get the ball over the first defender, which is the basic thing that most of the former set-piece takers last.
However, his first full season at Lincoln didn't go well and he quickly became a scapegoat amongst many fans, some blaming him for goals that where the attack or the scoring were on the other side of the pitch.
Despite his unpopularity in the stands, Anderson continued to play consistently under Chris Sutton but when he left and Steve Tilson took over, Anderson quickly found himself out of the team and despite re-appearing towards the end of the season, Anderson was released at the end of the 2010/11 season.
