Defender : Dan Gray

Mansfield born Dan Gray joined the Imps in the summer of 2012 after his released from Chesterfield. Gray plays mainly in defence but is also capable of playing in midfield.

Gray started his career at Chesterfield and although he started as a midfielder, he was converted into a defender. He was a regular for the Derbyshire club during the 2008/9 and 2009/10 period at Saltergate, notching up 50 appearances during that time in all competitions. However, the next two seasons saw him forced out of the side by new manager John Sheridan, and he would only make three more appearances for Chesterfield.

He was sent out on loan to Macclesfield two seasons running before eventually being released at the end of the 2011/12 season. After failing to find another League club, he came on trial to Lincoln and was successful in his attempts to win a contract, signing a one year deal with the Imps.

With 39 games in all appearances for City in his first season, Gray enjoyed his best season in terms of games as he was a regular as the club's right back under David Holdsworth, although Gary Simpson used him more sparing. Despite not playing him on a regular basis, Simpson still gave Gray a new contract that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2013/14 season.
