Wycombe's Causeway Stadium

I was never looking forward to going to Wycombe, if anything, I was hoping to complete my 92 without having to go to this ground (by them going down to the conference), however, the Causeway Stadium was to become by 74th League ground. When I had seen footbage of Wycombe's games, it always looked miserable, it looked like the ground that sunshine forgot.

I had gone on the official coaches to this game and no-one was particully looking forward to the game and getting to the ground proved to be a bit of a farce. Going around high Wycombe gives you the "rat in a maze" feeling and we didn't even have the slightest clue when we were coming up to the ground, there were no indications of anything. Suddenly the coach just stops and we're told we're there in an area that looked like it was full of factories.

Around the ground didn't have the football ground feeling and it felt like you were heading toward in indoor market rather than a football stadium. I quickly popped into the club shop but when I was looking around, I kept getting really dirty looks and I certainly wasn't made to feel welcome at all. I decided not to bother buying anything and proceeded towards the stand. The turnstiles weren't particully easily locateable, after many minutes of searching, I finally found it. Going in felt extremely cramped and getting into the ground also had that wierd feel about it because it still didn't feel like a football ground but it was what I had expected, an area without sunlight.

The away end wasn't too bad to be honest, I was a fairly large seated area and although there wasn't a lot of leg room, there was a good view of the playing action and there was nothing restrictiing your view. However, the view of the other stands wasn't particully appealing. The to the left was a fairly large seated area which would have been alright if it wasn't for the really bad pattern that was supposed to be a bird of some kind as well as WWFC written in sky blue. The stand opposite that one was a very small an poor all seated stand that looked really cramped. The final stand was an just a stereotypically average terrace.

The game itself was a bit bland, a bit like the local area where all the cars had to park on the hill because there was no designated car park. Wycombe won the game in the final minute thanks to a last minute header. There was little atmosphere in the grund and only when they scored did they create some noise and do the silliest pointing motion you'll ever see, it was two handed and if anyone watches wrestling, it's what Scott Hall used to do.

Overall I didn't enjoy Wycombe in the slightest and the day was wrapped up after the game when a Wycombe coach had flooded our coach with really bad fumes from it's broke exhaust and we had to wait an extra half an hour to leave. My advice to anyone is NOT to do this as an away trip unless you are absolutly desperate to complete your 92.
