Reaction to the victory over Stockport

The only thing missing from this game was a sending off, it had virtually everything and it was a pleasure to watch a great game between 2 sides battling for vital points for 2 different reasons, however, this was far from an even contest. For long periods of the match, Stockport dominated the game and it came as a genuine surprise when we scored. The only times we really controlled the game were between our 2nd and 3rd goals and after Stockport's disallowed goal.

I think I've discovered why Stockport are down near the bottom. Their midfield and attack are very good but their defence is shocking, everytime we went on the attack, we looked like scoring and that wasn't because of the vast immense skill of our players, but because the defence and goalkeeper just stood their. In added on time, we could have easily scored 3 or 4 goals and in that respect, the scoreline flattered Stockport because we should have scored at least 5 on Saturday. Infact, can any Stockport fans answer this question for me, does your goalkeeper ever move off his line?

We finally appear to be getting our act together, 1 defeat in 13 says it all and with only 3 points between us and the playoffs, there's every chance we could still make them, however, we will definatly need to keep this run of form going, especially the last 4 games inwhich we have won 3 and drawn 1.

"We've conceded some sloppy goals today but if your come away from home and get a result, they you've got to be highly delighted. I thought we weren't at the races first half and in fairness to Stockport, they were the better team. They're fighting for their lives at the bottom and were on a bit of a good run but we made it very hard for ourselves. I didn't think we could play any worse and then second half, we were a lot better."

"We missed two or three simple chances though, Simon missed a sitter, Marvin missed two sitters and Robbo missed a sitter and we ended up hanging on. I'm more concerened about the chances we missed as it was a game we could have won by 5 or 6 in the end, although we didn't play particularly well first half. But I'm going to be too despondent about that as we got the three points."

"He (Gritton) is another one of those players who can't score, isn't he. I've listened to those people who have had plenty to say about him but a couple of seasons ago, he got a few goals and hopefully, we can restart his career and he can score one or two for us."

"The ref and both linesmen were crap today, the one on our side was by far the worst and couldn't keep up with play. As far as we were concerned he gave us all the decisions in the first half and you all the decisions in the second.We had a nightmare for the first 20 mins of the second half and when you equalised we all thought that it was going to be another one of those days. All credit though, your play belies your position which I can't fathom; but in all honesty if our quality and finishing had been better we should have won 6-2. Or 6-0 if our defensive tactics from corners were better and not have all our players huddled together in the 6 yard box, panicking like a bunch of frightened schoolgirls!" AgentSmith762

"A truly awful game not helped by a referee who seemed intent on breaking up any passing football by blowing up for the slightest contact, he could'nt go 30 seconds without blowing that damned whistle.

Lincoln play a very solid but boring game with 8 X 7 footers spread across the back with a couple of decent forwards chasing the hoof, thats not a dig at their style of play, because I wish we could do that, but it makes for very boring football." erm, that's funny that you're moaning about the height of our team. Our team's average height yesterday was 5'11 whereas Stockport's was 6'1 so shove that up your ****.
