The Newcastle United striker initially joined the Minstermen on a month's loan - and is due back at St James' Park after York's crucial trip to Cambridge on Saturday.
Brass however, said: "We are still trying to sort something out with Richard but it's not likely to happen before the weekend. We'll have to see what the situation is after the Cambridge game."
