Smash and Grab!!

Burnley took three points from Bradford City yesterday in a purely smash and grab encounter. The points pushed the clarets up to 19th in the table and meant that Bradford are now more or less certainly facing Division Two next season.

Ian Moore scored a 91st minute winner yesterday as Burnley got their first away win since September. The clarets fielded an unchanged side from that which had drawn away at Forest. Adebola got a place on the bench, while Lenny Johnrose was not in the 16.

The first half saw the clarets take the lead from a wonderful strike from Blake, running on to a Little ball. Blake's 20th of the season was smashed in to the roof of the net and Alan Combe had no chance in the Bradford goal. But before half time an excellent cross field ball from Bradford, caught Dean West out and fell to Cadamarterie who fired past Jensen at his near post.

In the second half Bradford were more willing to take a shot than the clarets and this forced Jensen in to a few world class saves. Equally Dean West carried out a awesome goal line clearance from Dean Windass.

But Burnley should have taken the lead through the unlikely source of David May, but his goal was ruled harshly offside. The players complaints saw a yellow card that will get him banned for two matches. Furthermore Neil Wood was felled near the Bradford box, and the definite foul, that was close to being in the box was ignored by Referee Laws.

Eventually Ian Moore scored a scrambled headed goal on the 91st minute to complete the smash and grab.
