Merse and Osborn made 4 changes to the team that failed so miserably to get a result at Gillingham. In came Jermaine McSporran, Craig Burley, Paul Ritchie and Jorge Leitao. Out went Paul Merson, Steve Corica, Keith Andrews and Mark Wright.
The Saddlers lined up in a 4-4-2 formation which saw Jorge and Emblen playing out wide. The Norwich team was packed full of offensive punch, and opened the scoring after just one minute when Damien Francis slotted home from close range.
Despite falling behind early on the Saddlers went on to have 3 decent chances inside the opening 15 minutes thanks to McSporran, Bradbury and Leitao.
There were plenty of chances for both sides before half time. Bazeley forced Green in to making a save, as did Jermaine McSporran. Holt and McKenzie also threatened the Walsall goal on a number of occasions.
Svensson, Holt and McKenzie all went close to increasing the Canaries advantage before Huckerby set up the second goal of the game, which was scored by McKenzie in first half injury time.
Norwich had to wait until first half injury time before getting their second, as McKenzie latched on to a Huckerby cross to beat Jim Walker.
Huckerby also had a hand in the 3rd which was scored by Svensson just after half time.
Huckerby later got on the score sheet himself, with a well placed shot after some neat play from the Canaries.
The 5th goal of the game came after some tidy football created an opening for Svensson to get his 2nd of the game.
The score line could of been even higher had it not been for the in form Jimmy Walker. Jim was playing with a groin injury, and struggled with his kicking throughout the game, yet still managed to thwart Mulryne and Huckerby when called upon in the second half.
